Information Network Security Administration (INSA) and the Ethiopian Air Force have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will enable them to jointly strengthen the country’s technological and air force capabilities through collaborative innovation.

The agreement was signed by INSA Director General Mrs. Tigist Hamid and the Commander of the Ethiopian Air Force, Lieutenant General Yilma Merdasa.

The main objectives of the agreement focus on establishing a drone technology center and strengthening research activities, enhancing infrastructure and laboratory linkages, modernizing aerospace and defense technology, and building human resource capacity.

The two institutions will work together to establish an independent Drone Technology Center that will serve as an international hub for research, innovation, and development in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). The agreement also highlights collaboration in supporting and expanding academic and practical research in drone technologies.

Furthermore, both parties will collaborate on sharing and jointly utilizing infrastructure, laboratories, and technical resources to improve efficiency and productivity in both institutions.

The agreement also emphasizes continuous knowledge and experience exchange between policymakers and practitioners, aimed at strengthening Ethiopia’s human capacity and innovation skills in drone and aerospace technologies.

Overall, the MoU is described as having significant importance in ensuring the country’s technological sovereignty and in modernizing the Ethiopian Air Force through knowledge and innovation. It is also expected to play a major role in achieving Ethiopia’s strategic goals in aerospace and defense technology.
