The Director General of the Information Network Security Administration (INSA), W/ro Tigist Hamid, has extended Eid al-Adha (Arafah) greetings for the 1447 Hijri year to all Muslim faithful and the institution’s employees.
In her message, she stated that Eid al-Adha is a significant occasion that reflects the values of great sacrifice, kindness, solidarity, and helping those in need.
She added that the holiday is also a time to strengthen unity and renew commitments to peace and development for both the community and the country.
Referring to the current situation in Ethiopia, she called on all citizens to play their part in ensuring that the 7th national election concludes peacefully, democratically, and successfully, thereby reinforcing the country’s journey toward peace.
She further warned the public to be vigilant against misinformation and hate speech circulating on social media, especially content intended to distort or disrupt the election process.
She also highlighted common cyber risks during holidays, including fake prize messages used for personal data theft, banking and mobile money scams, and social media account hacking attempts.
Accordingly, she urged the public to avoid suspicious links, never share confidential banking or digital payment information (PIN/OTP), and secure their accounts using strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
Finally, she reaffirmed that INSA will continue working to safeguard Ethiopia’s cyber ecosystem sovereignty and security, and wished everyone a peaceful, loving, and harmonious holiday season.
