Senior officials from the Information Network Security Agency (INSA) held a consultation today at the headquarters of the Addis Ababa Police Commission regarding the modernization of the city’s policing system using modern technology.
The meeting included INSA Director General, W/ro Tigist Hamid, the Chief Commissioner of Addis Ababa Police, General Letenal Asrat Danero, deputy directors of INSA , top commissioners of Addis Ababa Police, and heads of departments at various levels.
The purpose of this consultation was to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions and to enhance city safety and security through modern technology. Additionally, discussions focused on making Addis Ababa more livable for its residents and improving the police force’s technological capabilities.
During the consultation, W/ro Tigist Hamid, Director General of INSA, emphasized that in today’s changing environment, it is essential to extensively use technological options to prevent crime and ensure citizen safety.
Information Network Security Agency is prepared to support Addis Ababa Police in building digital infrastructure, ensuring information security, and modernizing police operations. This includes improving communication systems, forensic services, and data analysis capabilities to bring institutional processes up to modern standards.
On the other hand, General Letenal Asrat Danero, Chief Commissioner of Addis Ababa Police, noted that technological support significantly improves the efficiency of the police force, saving human resources and time while ensuring more effective criminal investigations.
Overall, this consultation among senior officials of the two institutions lays a strong foundation for modernizing Addis Ababa’s security system to international standards. The joint efforts aim to prevent crime without relying solely on manpower, protect against cyber threats, and ensure long-term safety and security for city residents.
