The Information Network Security
Administration (INSA) made notable progress in securing Ethiopia’s cyberspace
and protecting national digital sovereignty during the 2024/25 fiscal year,
according to Director General Mrs. Tigist Hamid.
At a recent review meeting, Mrs.
Tigist emphasized the successful launch of critical infrastructure, including
the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and the Digital Forensic and Cybercrime
Investigation Laboratory, both now fully operational and providing essential
services. She also assured INSA’s strengthened defense capabilities, preventing
13,494 cyberattacks and conducting mandatory cybersecurity audits on 410
institutions, significantly improving their system protections.
Additionally, the administration
handled 6,193 fraud and digital forensic cases and processed 5,037 security
clearance requests for imported technologies, approving 4,925 and rejecting 112
due to non-compliance. These achievements underscore INSA’s vital role in
advancing Ethiopia’s digital agenda and cybersecurity. Building on this
progress, the administration commits to intensifying efforts to secure the
nation’s cyberspace and uphold digital sovereignty in the coming fiscal year.
