Information Network Security Administration (INSA) has officially conducted a Root Certificate Key Ceremony, which lays the foundation for national digital security and trusted information exchange.
The inaugural launch ceremony of this national root certificate management system was held in the presence of INSA Director General Ms. Tigist Hamid and senior leaders from nine government institutions.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Tigist Hamid stated that the digital certificate infrastructure plays a crucial role in the success of digital commerce (e-Commerce) and e-Government online services. She explained that this infrastructure not only increases trust in the digital system but also ensures that all forms of information exchange are conducted with a high level of security.
She further noted that INSA has previously been involved in providing similar digital security support, particularly for electronic billing systems, passport processing, and the national digital ID system (Fayda). She emphasized that the current ceremony is part of Ethiopia’s broader national digital transformation journey.
The root certificate management system integrates four key security services: confidentiality of information, integrity of data, authentication of the sender’s identity, and non-repudiation between communicating parties.
