In her opening speech at the inauguration ceremony, Ms. Tegus Hamid, Director General of Information Network Security Administration, noted that the Visit Ethiopia App Project has been developed with great attention by the Information Network Security Administration in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.
She stated that unless the tourism sector as a country supports digital transactions, provides data-based services, implements contactless payments, creates virtual guidelines and creates modern infrastructure, the expected benefits will not be achieved.
Therefore, the Director General pointed out that digitization is essential to make our tourism industry more resilient, inclusive and globally competitive.
Ms. Taghist Hamid, who stated that the Visit Ethiopia app is a secure and user-centric app, said that it will be of great benefit, especially in promoting our national tourist attractions internationally.
Ms. Taghist also pointed out that any interactions that take place on the platform are designed to be secure and reliable.
Minister of Tourism, Salamat Kassa, for her part, noted that tourism is closely linked to technological changes and said that the sector should be equipped with digital technologies to be a worthy competitor in the global market.
