National Cybersecurity Policy and Legal Frameworks Identified as the Foundation for the Success of Digital Ethiopia 2030

A strategic stakeholder consultation forum focused on policy and legal frameworks aimed at ensuring Ethiopia’s cybersecurity and digital sovereignty is currently underway.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Daniel Guta, Deputy Director General of the Information Network Security Administration (INSA), stated that preparing legal frameworks — including a National Cybersecurity Policy — to guide and regulate the sector is a critical pillar for advancing the country’s digitalization efforts.

He emphasized that the comprehensive nationwide implementation of these legal frameworks serves as the foundation for ensuring the success of the Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy.

During the forum, several strategic documents are being presented and discussed. Among them are the National Cybersecurity Policy Implementation Roadmap, the Cyber Diplomacy Roadmap, and documents establishing a National Cybersecurity Council.

In addition, discussions are being held on the regulation of satellite internet technology, a National Electromagnetic Spectrum Monitoring, Control and Management Strategy, and — for the first time in the country — the introduction of a Cyber Insurance strategic initiative.
