Addis Ababa, Tikimt 27, 2017 E.C. (October 8, 2024): The Information Network Security Administration (INSA) has officially launched an Electronic Invoice Management System developed for the Ministry of Revenues. The system was inaugurated in the presence of H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
The launch took place during the 7th round of the Recognized Faithful Taxpayers Award Ceremony held today. Alongside the recognition ceremony, digital technology tools designed to modernize the operations of the Ministry of Revenues and the Customs Commission were also unveiled. Among these technological achievements is the Electronic Invoice Management System developed by INSA.
In a message delivered at the event, Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed emphasized that the new technology systems launched today will automate the operational processes of both the Ministry of Revenues and the Customs Commission. These technologies will enhance service quality, efficiency, and transparency between institutions and taxpayers. They are also expected to play a significant role in preventing tax fraud and corruption.
The Prime Minister particularly highlighted the importance of developing such technologies locally using national knowledge and institutional capabilities, pointing out that it strengthens the country’s technological ownership and independence.
In her message, Minister of Revenues W/o Aynalem Nigussie stated that digital transformation is a key part of Ethiopia’s broader effort to improve revenue collection efficiency and to enable the government to self-finance development expenditures through domestic resources.
