Addis Ababa, Meskerem 27, 2018 E.C. (October 7, 2025): The Information Network Security Administration (INSA), in collaboration with the Ethiopian Construction Authority, has officially launched a new Construction Regulation Information System (CRIS).
The inauguration ceremony was attended by H.E. Chaltu Sani, Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, W/o Tigist Hamid, Director General of INSA, and Dr. Mesfin Negawo, Director General of the Ethiopian Construction Authority, marking the official commencement of the project.
Prior to this system, supervision and inspection tasks were handled manually. Due to the lack of integrated and accountable monitoring, there were significant negative impacts on construction quality, safety, and transparency. Minister Chaltu Sani highlighted these issues during the launch.
She particularly emphasized that the manual inspection and monitoring practices in the construction industry had allowed for widespread corruption and lack of accountability, stressing the need for a system that enhances transparency and reduces misconduct.
To address these challenges, the Ethiopian Construction Authority, in partnership with INSA, has launched both the Construction Regulation Information System (CRIS) and a Cybersecurity Management Project, which are expected to significantly improve oversight and address the previously mentioned problems.
