Information Network Security Administration (INSA) emphasized that strengthening cybersecurity awareness and effectively implementing regulatory frameworks are essential to accelerating the country’s digital transformation journey and achieving the goals of the “Digital Ethiopia 2030” strategy.
During a training session delivered to officials and experts in the Harari Region, the Administration stressed that building a secure digital ecosystem requires more than technological solutions. It underscored that raising public awareness and properly enforcing legal and regulatory frameworks are indispensable actions.
Opening the session, Mr. Jemal Ibrahim, Head of the Harari Region Innovation and Technology Agency, stated that safeguarding the security of digital services is foundational to the effective implementation of the strategy.
He further explained that the ongoing National Cybersecurity Maturity Level Assessment being conducted in the region plays a significant role in proactively identifying potential risks and guiding effective strategic directions.
On the day, extensive discussions were held on cybersecurity awareness, infrastructure and system testing, and the implementation of regulatory frameworks. The dialogue highlighted that strong leadership commitment and shared responsibility are vital to properly safeguarding the cyber ecosystem.
It was also noted that ensuring cybersecurity is not the responsibility of a single institution, but rather requires coordinated and collaborative efforts from all stakeholders.
