Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Visits INSA
The Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba, H.E. Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, paid an official visit to the Information Network Security Administration (INSA).
The delegation, led by the Deputy Prime Minister, was warmly received by INSA’s Director General, Mrs. Tigist Hamid, along with deputy directors. During the visit, Mrs. Tigist presented INSA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Ethiopia’s cybersecurity and safeguard national digital sovereignty. The two sides also held discussions on ways to deepen cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.
Deputy Prime Minister Tapia expressed his appreciation for the work being done by INSA, particularly in talent development and capacity building for young professionals, noting that such initiatives demonstrate Ethiopia’s strong vision in advancing digital transformation.
He also highlighted the long-standing, blood-bonded friendship and diplomatic ties between Ethiopia and Cuba, reaffirming his country’s readiness to collaborate with Ethiopia in science, technology, and cybersecurity.
For her part, Director General Tigist Hamid underscored the importance of expanding cooperation in cybersecurity, digitalization, and technology research and development, as well as strengthening human capital development through joint initiatives.
The visit took place alongside the Deputy Prime Minister’s participation in the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit being held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, during which he also toured several institutions, including INSA.
